Homemade Nail Polish Recipe

Makeup can be really expensive, but if you have the time and the willingness, you can make your own beauty products right at home. Check out the DIY nail polish recipe below.

Homemade Nail Polish Ingredients

• Favorite eye shadow
• Transparent nail polish
• Paper
• Toothpick

Homemade Nail Polish Directions

1. Make sure the eyeshadow is loose and then make a funnel with the paper. Place the eye shadow in the funnel.
2. Using the funnel, pour the eyeshadow into the translucent nail polish bottle. The more you add, the more opaque the nail polish will be.
3. Stir the eye shadow and the nail polish with the toothpick.

DIY Ways to Remove Nail Polish

Getting that nail polish off can be difficult sometimes as well, but there are some all natural ways to get rid of that old nail polish so you repaint your nails.

• Hairspray and a cotton ball work wonders. Simply spritz the cotton ball with hair spray and go to town wiping off the nail polish.
• Paint thinners – Obviously this is a last resort, but it works really well; just make sure you do it outside.

Homemade Lipstick Recipe

Lipstick is great for making you look pretty on a night out but it can also cost enough to make you consider refinancing your home. Good thing we have a DIY lipstick recipe that will have you looking fabulous without shrinking your wallet too much.

Homemade Lipstick Recipe Ingredients

•  1 tsp beeswax pastilles
• 1 tsp Shea butter
• 1 tsp coconut oil

For Red Hues

• 1/8 teaspoon of beet root powder

For Brown/Tan Hues

• 1/4 teaspoon  of organic cocoa powder
•  cinnamon

Homemade Lipstick Directions

1. Melt the beeswax, Shea butter and coconut oil in a glass jar without a lid in a small pot of simmering water.
2. After it has melted, remove from the heat and add the ingredients for the different colors, if you would like. You can also add essential oils for a better smelling lipstick, or try some other all natural ingredients to get a different color.
3. Once all ingredients are mixed well and still in liquid form,  use a dropper to pour the liquid into a chap stick container. Do not fill up all the way, as the lipstick will expand. Let it cool before using.

DIY Cuticle Oil Recipe

DIY Cuticle Oil Ingredients

• Nail Polish remover
• Dish washing soap
• Almond oil

DIY Cuticle Oil Directions

1. Find an unused or empty nail polish bottle.
2. Pour the leftover contents into a Ziploc bag filled with paper towels and save any metal ball bearings that came in the polish.
3. Fill the bottle a quarter full of nail polish remover. Reinsert the ball bearings and swirl it around to clean the inside of the bottle thoroughly. Pour the contents that come out into the Ziploc bag. You may have to repeat several times.
4. Put a drop of dish washing soap in the bottle and fill with warm water. Shake around with the ball bearing to remove all remnants. Rinse and drain.
5. Fill the bottle with Almond Oil.
6. Use it to paint over cuticles once a day.
